Position Summary
Sphere is looking for a highly motivated Machine Learning Engineering Intern to join our collaborative and fast-paced Engineering team during Summer 2025. This is a 12-week, full-time paid internship designed for aspiring machine learning engineers passionate about building next-gen AI systems that solve real-world challenges. You’ll gain hands-on experience developing production-grade tools and agents using modern LLM frameworks—all within a team that thrives on pushing the boundaries of applied AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on cross-functional engineering projects focused on building and deploying intelligent AI agents.
- Contribute to the development of core machine learning pipelines, including bug fixes, model tuning, and feature enhancements.
- Work with cutting-edge AI development tools like Cursor, Co-pilot, and Claude AI to optimize code and accelerate engineering workflows.
- Participate in design reviews, standups, and learning sessions alongside senior engineers and data scientists.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that contributes to the broader platform’s functionality.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical discipline.
- Completion of foundational coursework in Data Structures, Algorithms, and Machine Learning required.
- Proficiency in Python with hands-on exposure to machine learning libraries and frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI/ML coding assistants and productivity tools like Cursor, Co-pilot, and Claude AI.
- Strong analytical mindset with an ability to debug, iterate, and solve real engineering problems.
- Excellent time management and communication skills; self-starter with a collaborative attitude.
- Must reside in the continental United States and be authorized to work in the U.S.
